Our annual donation goes to…. Oaktree!

First, I would like to say a big thank you from all of us at Oaktree!
Influence Global’s powerful network of partners, collaborators and social justice supporters have just demonstrated a small, but important example of democracy in action, and I am delighted that so many of you value the work that we do. I look forward to showing you the impact of this donation over the coming year.
As most not-for-profit organisations know, there is always more to do and resources are often limited. While we have made significant progress over the last couple of decades, there is still a long way to go in creating the change we believe in.
Oaktree is Australia's largest youth run organisation – we are all under 26 years old and we are 95% volunteer run. We are building a future where youth are present and engaged in global issues, but this is challenged by the current lack of opportunity for youth participation in national and global decision making.
Everything we do is based on the simple belief that poverty and injustice are unacceptable - so we do all that we can to change this reality. From education programs giving young people the opportunity to thrive in the Asia Pacific to empowering young Australians to meet with their leaders to influence them on issues we are passionate about.
With over 50% of the world being under 30 years old, and young people being disproportionately impacted by poverty, injustice and climate change - we believe the role we play is more important than ever.
Staying relevant and knowing our purpose for existing as an organisation is critical to success. Over the last year, Influence Global has supported us in reviewing our Theory of Change and revitalising our reason for existence. It is a very exciting time for us – we have clear goals and a practical, actionable and measurable plan for achieving them.
The support Influence Global provided us has been invaluable – and your vote for us and this donation will enable us to continue to support young people in creating a more just world. We will be able to continue to partner with local organisations to deliver our growing youth empowerment programs the Asia Pacific region, and support the capacity development of our network of young people across the region who are tirelessly working to make the world we believe in a reality.
